Key Finding

The pro-Iran hacktivist group Islamic Cyber Resistance in Iraq – 313 Team claimed on April 26 that it conducted a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack against the e-commerce platform eBay. The alleged attack came just a few days after 313 Team claimed it attacked Bluesky. In both attacks, 313 Team demanded that the targeted company acknowledge or contact them and shared screenshots of alleged outage reports, highlighting how hacktivist groups seek to legitimize their actions and gain attention.

Online Activity

  • On April 26, 313 Team claimed on Telegram that it conducted a “massive cyberattack targeting the servers of eBay” that caused “the complete disruption of key website and application features.” The group claimed that the attack would last for “four hours” and then “ten hours.”
  • 313 Team demanded that eBay contact them to stop the attack, stating, “You are losing money by the minute, stop being fools.” The group also repeatedly stated that they used Beamed.su, a DDoS-for-hire service they claimed to use against Bluesky. Beamed.su operates a website and accounts on Telegram and TikTok.
  • The group posted multiple screenshots of results for eBay on the service-outage reporting website Downdetector.com as alleged proof of their attack.
  • Late on April 26, the eBay Japan Official eBay X account acknowledged a “glitch affecting users,” which 313 Team claimed was due to their attack. 313 Team also published several Telegram posts sharing news articles mentioning their alleged attack.
  • International media outlets covered 313 Team’s claims, as did various users on Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, VKontakte, and TikTok.
